A POPULAR Scottish tourist attraction has been named as one of the most spectacular beauty spots in the world – beating top destinations like Croatia and Canada.
The stunning Isle of Skye was one of three places in the UK to make the list from Premier Inn who ranked the top 50 water spots across the globe.
The Fairy Pools in Skye came in at an impressive number six, making it most beautiful blue spaces for Brits to visit without having to fork out a fortune.
The stunning island was singled out for its “picturesque views”, as experts said that visitors “can take in the beautiful pools and waterfalls on a nearby walk”.
They added: “And those who are brave enough to brace the chilly water can also swim!”
Skye came behind The Loe, which is the largest natural freshwater lake in Cornwall, England, and Kaieteur Falls in the Kaieteur National Park in Guyana.
But at the top of the list was the Ban Gioc water Falls, which straddles the border between China and Vietnam, Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand, and Lake Como in Italy.
The others that were listed in the top ten include Ullswater, which is another lake in England, and The Lake Prespa which is located on the tripoint of North Macedonia, Albania, and Greece.
And, finally, sitting ninth and tenth on the table are the Dead Sea Lake in Israel and Lake Tahoe in the US, which straddles the border of California and Nevada.
A spokesperson from Premier Inn said: “Summer weather provides a wonderful opportunity to visit natural beauty spots and admire them in full bloom.

Earlier this year Skye’s Fairy Pools, one of the country’s most picturesque places, was listed as the UK’s top spot for getting down on one knee.
The pools are often cited as beautiful and romantic, so it is easy to see why this would be the perfect destination to whisk your loved one away to if you are going to ask them to marry you.
Photography experts at ParrotPrint.com named it as the third best spot in the world for couples to pledge their love to one.
The Fairy Pools are a natural waterfall phenomenon fed by a series of waterfalls from the Black Cuillins near Glenbrittle that form a series of beautiful rock pools, on the river Brittle, with stunning aqua blue waters, surrounded by dramatic hills and wildlife including red deer.
Visitors from all over the world have flocked here for wild swimming, marriage proposals, and even to take their wedding pictures and it is no wonder when you see just how gorgeous it is.
Even the mile and a half walk there and back is spectacular with views of the Cuillins along the heather-clad way. It’ll take you about 20 minutes to reach the first – and largest – of the waterfalls.
Once on the island try one of the frequent boat trips offering sea angling experiences and wildlife tours for spotting sea eagles and dolphins, while golden eagles are sometimes visible on the mainland.
The more adventurous visitor can try their hand at climbing the Cuillin ridge, a climb stretching 12km from end to end with sumptuous views, visit the rocky pinnacles of Northern peninsula Trotternish, or aim slightly lower with guided gorge walking – the perfect way to experience all Skye’s nooks and crannies.
And there’s plenty of choice for gourmets, too – the Three Chimneys in Colbost and Kinloch Lodge in Sleat both offer Michelin-star treats.
