The main stages of the Scottish Open do not get going until December, but the qualifiers get underway this week in the not-so-Scottish location of Leicester.
The world’s top 16 head straight to the venue in Edinburgh on 11 December for their opening round matches, but everyone else must come through a qualifier to earn the trip to Scotland.
The qualifiers are all shown live on Discovery+ in the UK and run from 30 October to 2 November, the main stages, shown on Eurosport and Discovery+ are from 11-17 December.
Last year’s Scottish Open produced a surprise final between Gary Wilson and Joe O’Connor, with Wilson emerging as the champion to win his first ranking title.
It has not been a good season so far for underdogs, with Judd Trump winning the last three ranking events, while the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams, Shaun Murphy and Barry Hawkins have also won titles, but there could be another surprise sprung in Scotland in December.
