DeRozan’s 9-year-old daughter Diar became a rather loud part of the play-in game between her father’s Bulls and the Raptors. Seated behind the basket the Bulls, Diar would get extremely loud each time a member of the Raptors came to the free-throw line.

Coincidence or not, the Raptors suffered through an 18-for-36 night at the free throw line and wound up on the short end of a 109-105 final in a game Toronto led by as many as 19 into the third quarter.
Her ear-piercing screams could easily be heard on the broadcast and video footage of her went viral on social media.
DeRozan admitted post-game he wasn’t initially aware it was his daughter who was making all that noise but stole a look back after one particular miss and confirmed it for himself.
“I just wanted to make sure she was all right,” he said.

The request to come to the game came from Diar earlier in the week and DeRozan didn’t pay it much heed at first. But after repeated pleas, he finally gave in.
“She just said, ‘Dad can I come to the Toronto game?’,” DeRozan said. “I remember going to all the Toronto games when she was a kid. I almost said no because she was in school back home. She kept asking. She was adamant about coming here and supporting. I just said, ‘All right, you can miss one day of school and come to a game and I’m glad I did. I owe her some money for sure.”
Asked if she would be accompanying him to Miami and maybe continue her good deeds, the Dad in DeMar returned rather quickly.
“No, she has to go back to school,” DeRozan said ending that conversation.
