MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines overcame a shaky start and clawed back for a 21-19 semifinal victory to stun Thailand in the Southeast Asian Games 3×3 men’s basketball competition on Sunday.
Joseph Sedurifa hit three long shots in succession, including the one that upset its tormentors in Hanoi, Vietnam, last year.
The win sends Gilas to the gold medal match at 12:30 p.m. where it plays Cambodia.
The victory came shortly after the women’s team stunned the hosts, 21-20.
Sedurifa finished with 8 points, Joseph Eriobu 5, while Lervin Flores and Almond Vosotros 4 each.
The Philippines men’s 3×3 team took home a bronze medal in the previous edition of the SEA Games.
