Selena Gomez is doing Barbiecore with her incredible new blonde hair

With the much-anticipated Barbie movie hitting cinemas this week (we know, it’s actually days away!) it seems only fitting for Selena Gomez chose this exact time to debut new Barbiecore-inspired blonde hair and we are SO here for it.

Taking to Instagram, the singer and actress posted a carousel of images debuting her new blonde hair, with the caption simply, “????????‍♀️”

The first snap shows her blonde hair and dark roots slicked back into an almost Princess Leia-inspired updo. Another image shows Selena Gomez posing up against a table in a silk green dress, looking very much like a modern Marilyn Monroe with short blonde locks, scarlet red lips and cat-eye make-up. And in case we were doubting if this new Barbie blonde colour was for real, the star posted a further photo of her hair in a more natural setting, with a mirror selfie and her iced latte placed beside her, dark roots on show for all to see.

Of course, fans have gone mad for the new Selena. Just minutes after the photos were posted, one fan wrote, “’Im telling you, SELENA IS BARBIE.” Another wrote, “blonde selena is slayyy ????” while another added: “Third photo is giving Marilyn Monroe vibes ????”

There’s no denying she pulls it off. In fact, just a few weeks ago we had a little taster for her blonde hair. The star posted some snaps from Paris in June and wrote on Instagram: “Thank you Paris for being a home to me for two months! I loved every moment. Working on this film has completely changed my life. I can’t wait to share more soon! Love you all ????.” There was a giant croissant, a beautiful iconic Paris balcony view, a pizza party with Zoe Saldaña – and then a blonde bombshell mirror selfie. It was a beachy, rooty Barbie Blonde, if she missed her daily shower and was out all night clubbing.
