I have never been able to resist an overtly girly look — and Selena Gomez is giving me everything I could ask for at the premiere of her Apple TV+ documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me. It’s shiny. It’s sparkly. It’s pink.
The actor, pop star and amateur reality show chef walked the carpet in a tea-length one-shoulder Rodarte frock of magenta silk with a large, draped bow on the shoulder.
This is a deeply unforgiving fabric that wrinkles if you look at it funny, and clings to the body in such a way that if you’re not careful, it will highlight every ripple of your torso. I give Gomez points just for daring to walk it down the red carpet where she is the main event.
For accessories, Gomez went heavy on sparkles, from the colourful chandelier earrings to the cocktail ring, to the box clutch to the bejewelled mules that are giving Ever After-era glass slipper vibes.
The actor kept her beat classic, with a heavy smoky eye and nude lip. She wore her hair slicked back in an elegant side-parted chignon.
For whatever reason, Selena Gomez is the one celebrity I’ve always felt could genuinely be my best friend.
In an interview with Vulture about the very personal documentary, she said, “I can’t help but just love people for who they are, even when it’s frustrating and even maybe when I shouldn’t. I believe in people.”
So maybe that’s it. I think she’d love me and believe in me. Anyway, she looks great. Selena — love you, girl.
