Matthew Selt came from 5-3 down to beat Reanne Evans 6-5 in the second qualifying round of the Six Red World Championship.
Evans beat Mark Lloyd in her opening match on Saturday and almost followed up with a surprise win against Turkish Masters finalist Selt. She pulled away from 3-3 to 5-3, but Selt then dominated frame nine, came from 24-0 down to win the tenth with a 35 clearance, and took the decider 46-10.
Selt needs to win three more matches to reach the final stages. This is the first time that the invitation event has a qualifying process, with four places available in the main tournament which runs from March 6-11 in Bangkok.
Michael White came from 5-3 down to beat Mark Joyce 6-5, while Anthony Hamilton edged out Louis Heathcote by the same scoreline. Germany’s Lukas Kleckers scored a 6-4 victory over Joe Perry.
China’s Peng Yisong won the deciding frame on the final black to beat Barry Pinches 6-5. Ali Carter enjoyed a 6-2 success against Rod Lawler, while Gary Wilson saw off Oliver Brown 62.
