Sentimental Stories About Mother’s Day Gifts

Every piece of jewelry tells a story of love, remembrance and small and big moments that are connected to us. The designers featured here all created pieces that tell a tale of their own significant occasions and the gifts that speak to their relationships with grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters, and good friends. Reading these might give you the impetus to purchase a Mother’s Day gift you have been thinking about that will capture a moment or memory you shared with that special woman in your life.

“When my daughter had her first child, I wanted to give her something very special for the birth of her son, Jack. His middle name was after my dad who had recently passed and it saddened me that he would never get to meet his grandson. Additionally, my grandson’s birthday and mine are a day apart. As a zodiac person, I knew we shared a sign, and I also knew we would celebrate together. I decided on our slim ‘Viv’ locket, engraved his first initial on the front and his middle initial (which meant so much to me) on the back. I then put it on a Design Your Own Chain and added our/his birth sign, Aquarius. When my daughter wears it he says, “Mommy you’re wearing your ‘Jack necklace’ today.”

“A few years ago a dear friend of mine told me about her mother’s sudden pancreatic cancer diagnosis. The gaping hole in my heart from losing my own mother to cancer seems larger when someone dear to me is experiencing the same battle.

I called my friend daily to encourage, for updates on treatment, progression and to see if I could do anything to help. I would send heating pads, special socks, and give tips on herbal tonics that my mom drank when battling cancer.

I also sent my friend two of our Lace Deco Rings, one for my friend and one for her mother, thinking that my own mom found everyday joy in things like jewelry.

My friend and her mom wore the two rings which gave them both some happiness. After she passed, her younger sister started wearing the ring their late mother had worn. This February, the third sister turned 50 and my friend gifted her a Lace Deco Ring. Now all three sisters wear different versions of the ring to symbolize their sisterhood and bond with their late mother. It makes me thankful for my ability to provide a tangible memento to commemorate loved ones.”

“The most special gifts are often the ones that hold the most intimate and personal meanings. One of my most beloved Mother’s Day gifts is a Foundrae lion pendant, which is set with my daughters’ and husband’s birthstones, and engraved with “strength” on the back. I wear it almost daily on a necklace alongside other meaningful charms, keeping my family and the power we have as a unit with me at all times.”

“Growing up my mom took us to church every Sunday. For me it wasn’t something I ever enjoyed. But as I’ve grown older and have my own children I’ve realized that it was more than religion for her. It was also very much about tradition and how much it meant to her for us to share that with her. So I made this for my mom with all the birthstones of our family, including her grandchildren. In addition to signifying this part of her life and Sunday custom, perhaps it’s also my peace offering for how unruly my sister and I were in church every week!”

“The Angel Fish pendant is a homage to my mother and her tradition. My mom always encouraged her children to travel and experience, so from a young age my brothers and I were always enrolled in school and exchange trips. To protect us and bring us luck, she would hide fish fins in our bags collected on weekend trips on Father’s boat. Her astrological sign is Pisces and she has a deep love and connection to the sea that she transferred to us. She believes we were taking a part of our roots with us and it would bring us the best adventures!”

“Our new Celestial Collection was made in honor of the matriarch of our family who passed a few years ago, my mother and my daughter Dakota’s grandmother, Pat. She had a beautiful fascination and attachment to the sky and nature. We have included celestial pieces before but never to the extent. We wanted to celebrate and commemorate the woman who touched our lives in so many ways. We continue to celebrate the memories and moments of our time with her and the effect she had on us with a collection truly made for her. It features star bracelets, sun lockets and moon and star motif pieces.”
