After the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Bollywood has resumed its dry spell. Two important films were released on July 15: Rajkummar Rao’s HIT The First Case and Taapsee Pannu’s Shabaash Mithu. Despite having a strong cast and a compelling premise, both films failed to captivate audiences. They are now battling to establish a foothold in the box office. Taapsee Pannu plays Mithali Raj, the former captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, in Shabaash Mithu.
The biopic received favourable reviews at its initial release. However, the reviews did not entice more people to the theatres. The film’s dry run appears to continue after a dismissal on the first day of collecting. Shabaash Mithu barely garnered any numbers on Day 5. Shabaash Mithu debuted with Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra’s Hit: The First Case. While the Rajkummar Rao picture performed well, Taapsee’s excellent performance failed to entice audiences.
