It was definitely a sticky situation for Gerard Pique when his ex-wife Shakira noticed the jam in their fridge was vanishing and she wasn’t the one eating it.

See — and this is a note for all you potential cheaters out there — Pique and the couple’s children reportedly aren’t jam fans, but Shakira is. So too, apparently, was the woman he was allegedly cheating with.

After the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker returned home from a trip, she became suspicious over the disappearing fruit spread because the soccer player and their kids all dislike jam, according to ShowNews Today and Page Six.

The incident is seemingly alluded to in a new music video for the single Te Felicito in which she opens a refrigerator and discovers the disembodied head of her collaborator Rauw Alejandro.

The song follows another track, BZRP Music Sessions #53, in which she takes aim at Pique and his 23-year-old girlfriend Clara Chia.

In the song, she sings the lyrics, “I’m worth two 22’s/ You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo/ You traded a Rolex for a Casio.”

And in another section she sings the lines: “You left me the mother-in-law as a neighbour/ With the press at my door and a debt with the taxman.”

Following the song’s release, Shakira was reported to have placed a life-sized witch doll on the balcony of her Spanish home and pointed it in the direction of her former mother-in-law’s abode.

Pique and Shakira announced they were going their separate ways last year after 11 years together. It was the latest setback for the pop star after Spain announced it was going after the Grammy winner over tax evasion, accusing the entertainer of failing to pay 14.5 million euros (US$13.9 million) in taxes on income earned between 2012 and 2014.

In response, Shakira maintained her innocence and blasted Spanish prosecutors for smearing her reputation.

Last fall, the Colombian music star called the split with Pique “one of the most painful things that you can ever go through” in an interview with Elle.

“This is probably the darkest hour of my life,” she said. “But then I think about all those women around the world who are going through hardship, who are going through a situation as bad as mine or as difficult as mine or worse.”

As the jam revelation made the rounds, fans were quick to weigh in on the news on social media.

“Things that don’t lie according to Shakira: hips and jam,” one person tweeted, while another added, “I found out my ex was cheating from a smoothie receipt in his car. Shakira found out from a jar of jam. I don’t care how crazy we look or sound, when something doesn’t feel right, women will always find out.”

“Imagine the audacity not only to f— Shakira’s man, but eat Shakira’s jam,” a third person quipped.

Others wondered about the flavour of the spreadable, with one inquiring mind asking: “What brand was Shakira’s jam? Was it homemade? Store bought?”

The latest news comes after reports earlier this month that Shakira was heartbroken after fans noticed Pique’s new girlfriend had appeared in a 2021 Zoom interview he conducted while his wife was abroad with their two sons.

A source told Page Six the former Voice judge was “devastated to learn that this woman clearly felt at home in the house they shared with their children.”

The insider added, “They were very much still together at that time. It’s devastating for her to learn that this affair had been going on for a lot longer than she imagined.”
