Shalin Bhanot’s ex-wife Dalljiet Kaur reveals her son called fiancé Nikhil Patel ‘papa’ in first meeting

Actor Dalljiet Kaur, who was formerly married to Bigg Boss 16 contestant Shalin Bhanot and has been divorced for a while, is gearing up for her second marriage in March. In a new interview, she opened up about the first impression her husband-to-be, Nikhil Patel, had on her son and how he called him ‘papa’ in their first meeting. Dalljiet, who was seen on Salman Khan-hosted reality show Bigg Boss 13 in 2019, had earlier won the fourth season of dance reality series Nach Baliye in 2009. Shalin and Dalljiet appeared together on Nach Baliye. Dalljiet has also featured in shows such as Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Kaala Teeka and Sasural Genda Phool 2.

Talking about her son in a recent interview, Dalljiet told ETimes, “Jaydon is quite mature for his age. I have dated before, and he would ask me if I was considering the guy for marriage. He has always yearned for a father, but I needed to be sure that I got him a good dad and myself a good husband because it’s a matter of our lives. However, when he met Nik (Nikhil Patel) for the first time a couple of months ago, he addressed him as papa on his own.”

She added, “I just froze thinking Nik kya sochega (what will Nik think), as we hadn’t decided on marriage back then. Nik, without even batting an eyelid, started playing with him. That day when Jaydon met him, we just knew that we wanted to be together.”

Dalljiet also told the daily that she is proud of Nikhil’s elder daughter Aariyana, adding that she is very talented and said that she bonds with her “over girly topics”. Dalljiet said she is ‘the daughter she never had’. Dalljiet added she is yet to meet Nikhil’s younger daughter, Aanika, who is eight.

Dalljiet was married to Shalin Bhanot for a few years. They met while working on the 2006 TV show Kulvaddhu, and got married three years later in December 2009. Shalin and Dalljiet had their son Jaydon Jaydon in 2014 and a year later, she accused Shalin of domestic violence and filed for divorce.
