Shamshera, a high-budget masala blockbuster and Ranbir Kapoor’s first movie in four years, isn’t doing well at the box office. On its first day of release, the movie made about ₹10 crores, which is a disappointing sum considering that its claimed budget was ₹150 crores. Shamshera may actually perform worse than Samrat Prithviraj, YRF’s other renowned box office disaster of 2022, which debuted with ₹10.3 crores.
Mumbai has seen a notable underperformance of the movie, and the mass markets haven’t fared any better, said Box Office India. Shamshera is the second-widest release of the post-pandemic era, playing in around 4000 theatres. As a result, day one attendance has been extremely low.
The movie faces a challenging path ahead, which when coupled with the unfavorable reviews, should make it more challenging for it to end with a solid total. Shamshera box office collection day 2 report is given here.

An unfavorable response to Shamshera at the box office would also be troubling news for Ranbir’s second movie of the year, the even bigger Brahmastra. He and his wife Alia Bhatt work together for the first time on screen in the nearly ten-year-old film. The fantasy epic, which was directed by Ayan Mukerji and co-produced by Karan Johar, reportedly cost ₹300 crores to make.
