Shamshera stars Ranbir Kapoor, who returns to the big screen after a four-year absence. Karan Malhotra of Agneepath fame directed the film, which was produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. It appears that the ₹150 crore movie was not a profitable venture for the producers.
The film debuted at the box office with a subpar result, earning only ₹10.25 crores on Day 1 and showing minor improvement over the weekend, earning ₹31.75 crores on Weekend 1. In all circuits, Ranbir’s action film grossed less than Samrat Prithviraj, another flop from Yash Raj Films. It fell short of the expectations of the general public.
