Prior to Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Heat star Jimmy Butler told Jared Greenberg of NBA TV that he wouldn’t even attend his own ceremony if he’s inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
“Still don’t care. Honestly speaking, could care less,” Butler told Greenberg. “If we’re being brutally honest, if I was selected to the Hall of Fame, I’m not going.”
On Tuesday’s edition of “Undisputed,” Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe put Butler on blast for what he thought were “disrespectful” comments.
Sharpe thinks Butler should’ve shown way more gratitude during his interview with Greenberg.
“I hate everything he said. I have a big problem with it,” Sharpe said. “Skip, I get it, you’re in the middle of the NBA Finals. You can say, ‘I’m really not thinking about the Hall of Fame right now. The most important thing with me is to find a way to win one game in Denver to bring it back to Miami.’ But to be this openly and blatantly disrespectful of what we call heaven – sports heaven.”

Butler will almost certainly make the Hall of Fame. He’s a six-time All-Star who has made the NBA Finals twice and was once named the Most Improved Player of the Year.
Will Butler be a man of his word and actually skip his eventual Hall of Fame ceremony? We’ll find out whenever that time arrives.
