Lakers owner Jeanie Buss recently named her all-time top-five “most important” figures in team history.
The longtime team executive named her top-five in this order:
- Kobe Bryant
- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
- LeBron James
- Magic Johnson
- Phil Jackson
While there are a ton of historic Lakers to chose from, there’s one ridiculous omission from this list.
Three-time NBA Finals MVP Shaquille O’Neal took to social media to react to his absence on Buss’ list.
“Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy,” he wrote on Instagram.
Shaq averaged 27.0 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game through his eight seasons with the Lakers franchise. He played an invaluable role on the Los Angeles teams that notched three-straight NBA titles from 2000-02, averaging 33.6 points and 14.1 rebounds in his 20 Finals games with the Lakers.
There are some who consider O’Neal as a top-five player in NBA history, and you’d be hard pressed to find many who agree with Buss’ decision to omit him from the Lakers’ all-time top-five.
