Shaquille O’Neal recently echoed a thought NBA analysts have been having for years.

The NBA Hall of Famer believes the Portland Trail Blazers should do Damian Lillard “a solid” and trade him to a title contender.

“The organization should do him a solid and trade him to a contender,” Shaq said on The Big Podcast. “They should use him to get younger pieces because they’re never gonna win there. I would do that if I was management.”

Lillard has been intensely loyal to the Trail Blazers organization since they selected him with the 6th overall pick in the 2012 draft. But despite his years of elite production, the organization has never made it past the Conference Finals with Lillard at the helm.

Lillard is averaging 32.1 points per game in his 11th season with the Blazers. This past weekend, he dropped an absurd 71 points in a win over the Houston Rockets.

While Shaq may view a potential trade as a favor for Lillard, it appears the All-Star point guard is satisfied with his current situation.
