MUMBAI: India batter Shreyas Iyer underwent a “successful” back surgery in London on Tuesday, TOI has learnt.
The back injury, and the surgery to cure it, will ensure that Iyer will miss the entire IPL 2023, and the World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval in London in June.
“Shreyas underwent a successful surgery on Tuesday in London. In fact, he walked a bit too yesterday,” a source told this paper.
The 28-year-old is expected to be out for around three months before he resumes training, and should be ideally fully fit before the ODI World Cup in India.
