Shweta Bachchan reacts after mom Jaya says she makes everything about herself: ‘It can’t be about you guys all the time’

Navya Naveli Nanda was joined by her mother Shweta Bachchan and grandmother Jaya Bachchan for the finale episode of her podcast What The Hell Navya. In the episode, which was released on Saturday, Navya asked them what was their favourite part of the podcast. As they discussed their experience, Shweta said she loved it when her mother and daughter praised her on the podcast. In response, Jaya said Shweta always ‘manages’ to make everything about herself. Responding to Navya Naveli Nanda’s question on her favourite part of the podcast What The Hell Navya, veteran actor Jaya Bachchan said, “I like all of it… I like the beginning and I like the parenting part.” Speaking of her favourite part, Shweta said, “My favourite part of the podcast is when my mother says very nice things about me that I have not heard in four decades… that was my favourite part, when you both (Jaya and Navya) praised me. I love it.”

While responding to her daughter’s comment, Jaya Bachchan said, “Shweta, you always manage to get the… the light has to be on her. Even when the whole family is talking, sab ghoom phir ke (when all is said and done), some conversation she’ll bring, and in the end (be like) ‘but, I you know…’”

Agreeing with Jaya’s statement, Shweta defended herself and explained why she ‘always brings a topic back to something about herself’. She said, “My friends make fun of me, they say it’s a unique talent because no matter what the topic is, ‘she can always bring it back to something about her’. Because listen, if I am going to be the only non-public facing actor in this family, some attributes I also have to imbibe right? It can’t just be about you guys all the time. It has to be a little bit about me also.” Shweta is the daughter of Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan.

In the same episode of the podcast, Navya had also revealed what her ‘mamu (uncle)’ Abhishek Bachchan ‘always played some house tech music’, when he saw ‘tensions rising’ at home. Jaya and Shweta have been joining Navya on her podcast in recent months, where they have also been sharing details of their personal lives and their relationships with each other.
