When we undergo trauma cycles and hope to work on it to come out stronger, it is very natural for us to want to talk to our parents about the way we are feeling. However, often our parents are not equipped to handle the conversation. What keeps them away? “Understanding emotionally immature parents (EIP) is actually a gift because it allows you to be aware of where your parent is at and what they’re capable of understanding or giving you. Many of us desperately want to be seen or heard by a parent who cannot give these things to themselves— so they certainly can give this to us,” wrote Nicole in her post.(Unsplash)

Acceptance is the key to deal with emotionally immature parents. “Acceptance of parents as flawed human beings (like all of us) allows us to focus on our own healing. We cannot change our parents. What we can change is ourselves,” suggested Nicole.(Unsplash)
