Nurse began his media conference in Philadelphia by thanking the Raptors and the city of Toronto for “10 great years” before discussing why he chose the Sixers as his next stop.

“This team could be playing tonight,” Nurse told reporters ahead of the NBA Finals, speaking to the team’s talent, before adding he hopes free agent James Harden will opt to stay. “Winning has to be the sell,” Nurse said about his pitch to Harden.

Nurse said he didn’t “really vibe on the frequency of the past” when asked about the Sixers not making a conference final since 2011. “That doesn’t matter,” he said.
He also had some fun with the memes going on about him and Joel Embiid, who has been critical of his methods to stop the NBA MVP in the past. Methods that were quite successful, we might add. But Nurse said he always admired the way Embiid would adapt and force Toronto to come up with a new plan by the next game.

“It’s a little bit entertaining for me,” Nurse said.
“I accidentally had my TV on yesterday and I saw a couple of them. They were pretty good.”
AROUND THE RIM
The Raptors have still not decided on a Nurse replacement. Two assistant coaches currently participating in the NBA Finals are considered to be very much in the mix, Miami’s Chris Quinn and Denver’s David Adelman. Nurse’s predecessor, Dwane Casey, was interviewed while Dallas was on the way to an NBA title in 2011 before ultimately accepting the job …As the Finals begin, two Denver Nuggets veterans, Jeff Green and DeAndre Jordan have played over 1000 games and are looking for their first NBA title. Green is fourth amongst active players without a title in games played. Vince Carter has the NBA record for most games played without a ring.
