After the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the 2023 NBA Playoffs with a 4-0 Western Conference Finals sweep on Monday night, LeBron James said he has “a lot to think about” when it comes to his basketball future.
Could the all-time great NBA superstar really be retiring?
Skip Bayless doesn’t think so.
“There is no way LeBron James is going to retire, in my humble estimation, at this moment,” the Fox Sports analyst said on Undisputed.

Bayless said LeBron’s “feelings were hurt” by this sweep, leading him to raise questions about his basketball future. He compared this move to the yearly Aaron Rodgers retirement rumors after big playoff losses.
“We’ve seen Aaron Rodgers blow big big games at home for three straight seasons in Green Bay and immediately drop the retirement possibility bombshell. Then it changes the whole narrative… It does deflect blame a little bit away from their team, him and everything that just happened.”
LeBron, 38, averaged 27.8 points, 10.0 assists and 9.5 rebounds per game in this year’s WCF series against the Nuggets. In last night’s close-out game, he dropped 31 first-half points and finished with a 40-9-10 stat line.
