BEER NAME?

Gweilo Berry Caramel Tart Sour

WHERE’S IT FROM?

Gweilo, the brewery born in Hong Kong that is now brewing in Jindong with WA legends Rocky Ridge.

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT IT?

Gweilo has built a reputation as the king of dessert-style beers and their Berry Caramel Tart Sour is another fine example of that.

They have opted for a more logical flavour combination in the Berry Caramel Tart Sour compared to their other adventurous concepts.

Pouring a dark cherry red, this tinnie is bursting with berry aromas from the addition of raspberry, mulberry and blackberry purees to the brewing process.

Those same berry notes dominate the palate at first sip, while the addition of caramel and vanilla provide a smooth, custard-like balance to the flavour profile.

Gweilo added two different types of oats and a dash of lactose to the pale malt base to enhance the smooth pastry foundation.

The flavours mix perfectly to recreate a decadent dessert in the form of a tart sour. Bravo, Gweilo.

SHOULD I SHARE IT?

Sure, but if you like keeping tasty treats to yourself, that is also acceptable!

WHAT’S THE DAMAGE?

About $9 for a single can.
