Skybound reveals details for DUKE and COBRA COMMANDER Energon Universe series

0

Last month Skybound Entertainment revealed that they had picked up the licenses to G.I. Joe and Transformers from Hasbro, to be launched as part of the new Energon Universe of titles. The first of those titles, a Transformers series from writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson and colorist Mike Spicer, is set to launch in October, and art from that series has already been released. Now Skybound has released information and cover art for a pair of G.I. Joe titles, Duke and Cobra Commander, scheduled to hit in December and January.

First, Duke, the four-issue miniseries from writer Joshua Williamson, Tom Reilly, and Jordie Bellaire. Here’s how Skybound describes the series:

The Energon Universe expands in December with Duke #1, a limited series from Joshua Williamson (DC’s Superman, Dark Ride), Tom Reilly (The Thing) and Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33), that tells the story you’ve never read before – the origins of G.I. Joe and Cobra in a world grappling with the arrival of the Autobots and Decepticons. When Conrad S. Hauser (codename DUKE) investigates the mysteries behind The Transformers, the answers will lead to the birth of forces for good and evil that the world never imagined.

Williamson and Reilly are currently teaming for the two-issue Knight Terrors: Superman miniseries from DC, if you want a preview of what their collaboration looks like.

The other title, the four-issue Cobra Commander series, is written by Williamson and illustrated by Andrea Milana and Annalisa Leoni. Here’s Skybound’s description of that one:

In a world where Cobra doesn’t exist, one man’s sinister plans to utilize the mysterious alien substance known as Energon will send shockwaves across the globe.

Along with the covers and descriptions, Skybound also revealed a new trailer for the overall Energon Universe, with some new glimpses at Daniel Warren Johnson’s Transformers artwork included.

The Energon Universe is currently underway in the pages of Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici‘s Void Rivals. Look for Transformers #1 to arrive from Skybound in October.
