Sleep In A Rooftop Igloo This Winter In New York City

Sleeping under the stars is a foreign concept in New York City. Sure, the Big Apple is home to a variety of unique accommodations. But, laying in bed looking up at the sky as the snow falls is certainly not one of them. That is until now. Conrad New York Midtown launched a limited-time winter wonderland experience featuring Veuve Clicquot, in their one-of-a-kind ATRIUM Suite that acts as a modern igloo.

The chalet-style glass-domed 1,200 square foot suite, titled Winter Suite, has been transformed into a luxurious winter-themed cabin complete with faux sheepskin and cowhide rugs, a decorative fireplace with firewood, and Adirondack chairs. Guests who book the chalet-style suite will be welcomed with a Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label bottle and can cozy up with plush robes and slippers.

For those who want to enhance their experience, a special Winter Suite in-room dining menu will be available featuring the famous champagne mimosas and a French-inspired champagne pairing dinner. Of course, nothing beats the experience of laying in bed watching the snowfall and the lights twinkle from above.

“It’s truly a one-of-a-kind experience that transports guests,” Boris Guerov, General Manager of Conrad New York Midtown, told me. There’s nothing quite like it with 180-degree panoramic views of Central Park and the New York City skyline! We’re thrilled to offer this immersive experience to guests.”

Incredibly, that’s not the only igloo-like experience happening in NYC this winter. The Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel is launching Somewhere Nowhere’s new rooftop teardrop igloos that overlook the New York skyline and Empire State Building from the 38th and 39th floors. There are 10 igloos available that each holds 4-5 guests with Aspen-inspired winter décor, a built-in fireplace, and blankets to keep warm.

While inside, you can order craft cocktails and globally-inspired dishes from Noodlelove. The beverage offerings were inspired by fantasy films such as “Alice and Wonderland” and “Harry Potter.” Think cocktails like the Queen of Hearts served in a cage with Patron, blackberry, raspberries, Cointreau, Chambord, hibiscus syrup, and lemon juice. Meanwhile, the menu will feature items like Wagyu beef sliders, spicy tuna tartare, and warm lobster rolls.

“Somewhere Nowhere is designed to be an immersive, fantasy escape. We want to transport our guests to a winter wonderland as they’ve never experienced,” Iris Tang, co-founder of El Grupo SN, said in a statement. “Through our Teardrop Igloos, we created a luxurious feel like you’re dining in a snow globe with the most picturesque views—- dining amongst the stars and staring into the city’s lights and skyline. The most unique experience you can find.”

The Winter Suite is available for guests to book now through February 28, with rates starting at $3,300 per night (not including food and beverage options). Each igloo is available by reservation only directly on Somewhere Nowhere’s site (and Resy soon), with seatings available for 2.5 hours with a minimum $800 food and beverage spend.
