A favourite with international retirees, Malta is an ideal destination for potential British expats. With culture, beaches and excellent healthcare, retirees can have excellent quality of life in Malta.
Malta’s climate offers ideal conditions for British retirees with just one short rainy season interrupting the good weather.
Mark Christian, an American expat, told Travel Awaits: “The rainy season lasts from November to February.
“The rest of the year is sunny with just one to two days worth of precipitation per month if that.”
British expats can expect twice as much sun in Malta than they would get in London due to its southern location.
DON’T MISS
Nature lovers will be spoilt for choice with so much to explore across Malta’s vast and rugged landscapes.
From astounding cliff views, to lush meadows and desert, Malta has an extremely beautiful environment.
Divers are able to explore some of the world’s most impressive underwater geological formations.
As Malta is such a small country, British retirees can be surrounded by nature in no time at all.
Malta is also a fairly safe destination for British retirees with low violent crime levels and terrorism risk.
Unlike other Mediterranean hotspots such as Greece, Malta also has an extremely low threat level from natural disasters.
British expats can also expect to join a vibrant international community if they choose to retire in Malta.
Christian said: “There are a lot of retirees from the UK living in Malta. I also met retirees from Scandinavia and Germany.
“I think one of the main reasons they enjoy Malta is due to the mostly sunny weather, and slow simple Mediterranean life.”
Property on the coastline will carry a heavy price tag so British retirees looking for a bargain are advised to look inland.
Choosing an inland town or village to settle in could see expats snatch up a bargain while enjoying a traditional way of life.
Expats can keep food costs down by shopping at one of the country’s local markets for delicious fresh produce.
