As far as head-to-head is concerned, this is the 10th time SMP and NRK will face off against each other with four wins each in the past. Nellai Royal Kings won the last encounter between the sides by 26 runs in TNPL 2022.

In a big boost for the side, their star player Washington Sundar is available for the tournament after the all-rounder was injured midway through the IPL 2023. Hari Nishaanth has been a key buy during the auction as the side tried to strengthen their batting line-up. S Abisheik is expected to play a bigger role after the batter played decent knocks with Salem Spartans last season.

Swapnil Singh and Murugan Ashwin are expected to provide the experience in the bowling line-up while spinner Balu Surya has been an important inclusion as he took 10 wickets in TNPL 2022.

For NRK, Arun Karthik has been roped in to fill in for Baba Aparajith as the skipper while the likes of S Niranjan, L Suryaprakash, and N Rajagopal provide further strength to the batting. P Sugendhiran will hope to put on a better show after being retained by the franchise.

Their bowling has some impressive names too as the likes of Sonu Yadav, Sandeep Warrier, and Ashwin Crist were in the run for top wicket-takers last season. Kartick Manikandan and M Poiyamozhi were taking wickets in TNPL 2022 as well.
