Furious snooker star Shaun Murphy has blamed a seagull for stealing his Terry’s Chocolate Orange from the window ledge of his hotel room.
World no.11 Murphy came back to his Llandudno hotel hoping to celebrate his first round Welsh Open whitewash of Victor Sarkis with the well-earned tasty treat on Monday.
But the Magician was left ‘fuming’ after returning to find the snack had vanished – and he was in no doubt over the culprit in question.
Former world champion Murphy explained how he had tactically left the chocolate orange to cool on the window ledge when heading out for the evening.

And the only explanation for its disappearance is due to a wily seagull – who is firmly placed at the top of Murphy’s suspect list.
Murphy tweeted: “So…..when I left my hotel room earlier this evening I placed, VERY CAREFULLY a Terrys Chocolate Orange on the Window Ledge outside to chill so I could have a few slices with a coffee in bed. Not there now is it. #fuming #seagulls”.
Murphy, however, did manage to put the chocolate orange-gate frustration behind him as he returned to the baize with a comfortable 4-1 second round victory over Chinese Peng Yisong on Tuesday morning.
The 40-year-old eased through to round three at Venue Cymru, where he will play Scotland’s Anthony McGill or Geordie Sam Craigie.
Murphy is slowly starting to show signs of the form that made him complete snooker’s revered Triple Crown, but is still hunting his first ranking title since winning this tournament in 2020.
And while there is a top field in Llandudno including Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump, Murphy will fancy his chances of claiming the top prize of £80,000 in Sunday’s best-of-17 showpiece final.
