The Sound of Music family member Rosmarie Trapp has passed away aged 93 after escaping from Nazi-occupied Austria and settling in the US

The Sound of Music family member Rosmarie Trapp has passed away aged 93.

She escaped from Nazi-occupied Austria in 1938 and settled in the United States and her family confirmed Rosmarie’s death over the weekend.

They said she passed away peacefully on Friday but have not provided a cause of death.

The family broke the news on Instagram, describing Rosmarie as a ‘kind’ and ‘gentle’ soul.

Their statement reads: “Rosmarie Trapp passed away peacefully on Friday evening at the age of 93; she was in the presence of loved ones all day long.

“Her kindness, generosity, and colorful spirit were legendary, and she had a positive impact on countless lives.

Rosemarie’s family confirmed her passing over the weekend

“Please respect our family’s privacy as we take time to process this loss, and prepare to celebrate the life of an amazing woman.

“We believe the best way to recognize Rosmarie is to demonstrate the same selfless kindness and generosity that she exemplified daily.”
