Southampton will sack Ralph Hasenhuttl but he could remain in charge of the Saints’ final Premier League fixture before the World Cup, according to reports. Hasenhuttl’s side were comfortably beaten 4-1 by Newcastle on Sunday and that has prompted the club’s board to dismiss the Austrian.
Hasenhuttl has struggled to get positive results for some time at Southampton. The South Coast club are 18th in the top-flight, having won just three of their 14 fixtures.
It comes after Southampton endured a run of 15 defeats in 22 games in a dismal winless period that started last season and ended with a narrow win at Bournemouth in October.
