Southampton’s Premier League clash with Leicester City was temporarily suspended after a fan needed emergency medical treatment in the stadium.
The fan collapsed during the half-time break but did not suffer a cardiac arrest.
Leicester City tweeted: “There will be a delay to kick-off for the second half due to a medical emergency in the stands.”
The fan was treated inside St Mary’s before being taken to the hospital.
Supporters had cleared out of the way to allow room for the medical staff to treat the stricken fan.
They clapped as the fan was stabilised as players returned to the pitch for the restart.

Players were given five minutes to warm up before play officially resumed.
The incident occurred just minutes after a fan suffered a cardiac arrest during Watford’s Premier League clash with Chelsea.
That match was also temporarily suspended while medical staff administered CPR.
The Hornets supporter was eventually stabilised and taken to the nearby Watford General Hospital.
Play was then able to resume, with Watford and Chelsea stars also being given five minutes to warm up before the action recommenced.
Southampton were leading Leicester 2-1 at the break, with the Saints going ahead within three minutes through Jan Bednarek.
The Poland defender poked home a close-range rebound after Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel had denied an initial effort from Mohammed Salisu following a corner on the left.
Jonny Evans drew the Foxes level in the 22nd minute.
Saints keeper Alex McCarthy could only parry a stinging shot from Wilfred Ndidi following good work from James Maddison and Evans thumped home the loose ball to make it 1-1.
But Che Adams restored Southampton’s lead 11 minutes before the break.
The recalled Redmond was given time to pick out a cross from the right-wing and Adams duly sent a diving header into the far corner from just outside the six-yard box.
