Breweries throughout Southern California won awards at the U.S. Open Beer Championship, including five gold medals.
Evans Brewing Co. took two gold medals. The brewery was founded in Irvine in 1994 but moved to Corona in 2019.
Other multiple winners included Angel City Brewery in Los Angeles and Bravus Brewing Company in Anaheim.
The competition took place earlier this month in Oxford, Ohio, with more than 9,000 brews from across the United States competing in more than 150 categories.
Here are local winners listed on the compettion’s website.
Angel City Brewery, Los Angeles: Silver medal for Biere De Garde and bronze media for Little Tokyo Sugi Dry, both in the Barrel Aged Pale Beer category.
Bravus Brewing Company, Anaheim: Gold medal for Cucumber Mojito Gose, non-alcoholic Malt Beverage category; silver medal for Mango Habanero IPA, non-alcoholic Fruit and Spices category.
Evans Brewing Co., Corona: Gold medal for Quadrupel Donker, Belgian Quadrupel category; gold medal for Smoke Show, Smoked/Rauch Beer category.
Hangar 24 Craft Brewery, Redlands: Gold medal for X1 Pale Ale, American Pale Ale category.
Smog City Brewing Co., Los Angeles: Bronze medal for New Normal, Dortmunder Export category.
Temblor Brewing, Bakersfield: Gold medal for Ruby’s Boysenberry Cobbler Kettle Sour, American Berry/Fruit Beer category.
