Spain scraps all remaining Covid requirements for travellers from non-EU countries

All the remaining Covid requirements for travellers entering Spain from non-EU countries will be scrapped as of 00:01 on Friday, October 21.

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior announced today, Thursday, October 20, that as of 00:01am on Friday 21, all remaining Covid restrictions for travellers from non-European Union/Schengen Area countries entering the country will be scrapped, as reported by SchengenVisaInfo.com.

Posting on its official Twitter profile, the Ministry wrote: “As of October 21, the health control measures for passengers from non-EU or Schengen associated countries are without effect”.

A spokesperson for the Spanish Ministry of Health said that such a decision had been made after taking into consideration the Covid-19 situation in the country and further in the world, as well as the vaccination rates.

“Taking into account the evolution of the pandemic at a global level and the epidemiological situation, it is advisable to leave without effect the sanitary control measures for people from countries not belonging to the European Union or with the consideration of countries Schengen partners”, the Ministry stressed.

With the UK half-term holidays approaching, it means that holidaymakers will be free to come and go at liberty without the need to be vaccinated, prove their vaccine status, or present a Covid test.

Most of Europe had already done away with entry requirements, leaving Spain as one of the few destinations still asking for entry requirements post-pandemic. Health declaration forms were scrapped last month, which was seen at the time as being one step nearer to fully eliminating all requirements.
