Leasing Options, a U.K.-based automotive credit broker, spotted a small pothole in the current digital dating market. The company noted that on traditional dating apps (Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, etc.), people didn’t like seeing potential mates flaunting their vehicles because it felt like a weird wealth flex.
“When we asked the general public how they’d feel if someone had a picture of their car on a standard dating profile, the responses were surprisingly close,” Leasing Options explains on its website.
The “general public” it polled for this oddly specific dating data had many reasons to dislike seeing a car on a standard online dating profile, including “it is ‘weird’ to include pictures of your car by itself,” and it “is a turn-off as they want to know about the person, not their car.” It might also be seen as attracting ‘gold diggers,’ apparently.

Since the general population is supposedly disgusted by car pics on traditional dating apps, this new app, unceremoniously dubbed Speed Dating, is necessary.
Speed Dating will let users add their usual dating must-knows like name, age, and sexual orientation, but it will have other car-specific sections where users are encouraged to show off their car. You’ll be able to add details about the history of the vehicles you’ve owned, your current car, favourite manufacturers, as well as details about your dream car.
You can also “share your car turn ons and offs with the algorithm to steer clear of users that aren’t right for you,” which is lucky because we all know that a Ford owner and a Toyota driver would never work out.
It’s unclear whether Speed Dating will have a Canadian presence or if it’ll launch only in the U.K., but you can sign-up to be alerted when it does officially come to market.
