A creamy pasta dish is the ultimate weekend treat – and it’s doubly satisfying when you make it yourself.
Instead of going out for some Italian cuisine this weekend or ordering in, why not try BBC Good Food’s Speedy sausage stroganoff tagliatelle?
This recipe takes just five minutes to prepare and cooks in a further 15 minutes, so it won’t have you holed up in the kitchen for hours on end.
BBC Good Food describes it as an “easy” recipe so it’s perfect for budding chefs who may not yet have lots of culinary experience.
The food media brand stated: “Make our budget-friendly quick sausage stroganoff tagliatelle for a simple family dinner. This filling bowl takes just five minutes to prepare.”
The recipe serves four but quantities of ingredients can be amended depending on party size.
BBC Good Food recommended that the recipe can be frozen – “just make sure leftovers are kept in the fridge until needed then reheated until piping hot all the way through”.
The food experts recommended reheating in the microwave for the “best” results, with a small splash of water to prevent them from drying out.
Those who aren’t fans of mushrooms can swap them out for sliced onion and/or sliced peppers instead
Ingredients
20g unsalted butter
Olive oil, for drizzling
Six pork sausages
350g chestnut mushrooms, sliced
One tsp sweet smoked paprika
300ml soured cream
Half tbsp wholegrain mustard
150ml beef stock
400g dried tagliatelle
Small bunch parsley, chopped
Method
-
Heat the butter and oil in a frying pan over a medium-high heat until foaming. Squeeze large chunks of the sausage meat out of the skins and into the pan. Cook for between five to eight minutes or until golden brown. Pop the mushrooms in the pan and cook for another five minutes until they also start to turn brown. Add the paprika and stir it in, cooking for one minute. Next, stir in the soured cream, mustard and stock. Bring to a simmer and season to taste.
-
Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pan of salted water according to pack instructions. Add in half the parsley. Plate up the pasta in four deep bowls and sprinkle the remaining parsley on top. Enjoy!
Food fan ‘tinamaria’ called it a “fantastic recipe, quick and delicious”. Fellow pasta fan ‘Mytwolittlebears’ said it was a “really tasty cost effective meal”.
