Earlier this week, Las Vegas unveiled the “Sphere” — a $2.3 billion spherical entertainment venue that features the largest LED screen on Earth.
The venue is prepared for this year’s NBA Summer League, lighting its 1.2 million puck lights to look like a massive basketball on the city’s skyline.

Construction for this venue began back in 2018 and opened with a fireworks show on the Fourth of July. The 20,000-person standing capacity venue is said to be the world’s largest spherical structure.
“The Exosphere is more than a screen or a billboard — it is living architecture, and unlike anything that exists anywhere in the world,” Sphere Entertainment’s senior vice president of brand strategy and creative development Guy Barrett said, via NPR.
This year’s NBA Summer League action will take place at the Thomas and Mack Center, not the Sphere. The first show at the Sphere will be a U2 concert in September.
Later this evening, No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama will make his Summer League debut in the San Antonio Spurs’ matchup against the Charlotte Hornets.
