The wider sports world is abuzz about NBA legend Allen Iverson today following the release of Everything But the Chip: The 2001 76ers yesterday.
The NBA TV documentary chronicles the 2000-01 Philadelphia 76ers and Iverson’s starring role in one of the greatest teams in NBA history that failed to win a title.
Many people consider Iverson’s 2000-01 season the best year of a single player carrying an entire team on his back into the playoffs and all the way to the Finals. He led the NBA in scoring that season en route to MVP honors and averaged almost 33 points per game in the 76ers 22 postseason games
In the hours since the show premiered, fans have taken to social media to celebrate the career of Iverson. Many feel that it was the greatest year of basketball they’ve ever seen and that Iverson is one of the most unique athletes in sports history.

Allen Iverson is trending, so might be a good time to declare this:
Allen Iverson is the greatest pure male athete I've ever covered in more than 40 years.
I'm convinced he would have become elite at whatever sport he was introduced to, or fell in love with, as a child.— Michael DeCourcy (@tsnmike) June 1, 2023
I wish he won one

Allen Iverson’s 26.7 points per game rank 8th in NBA history and the list of players ranked above him consists of some of the greatest players ever.
Iverson was truly a one of a kind and it’s a shame that he was never able to win an NBA title.
