Grizzlies star Ja Morant has received nonstop criticism this Saturday for his recent actions on Instagram Live.
Morant flashed what appeared to be a gun while at a nightclub this weekend. A video of this incident went viral across several social media platforms.
On Saturday afternoon, former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant sent an important message to Morant on Twitter.
Bryant made it clear that he doesn’t want Morant to throw away his career.
“I don’t care if you was to say it’s no foul play to having that gun on your live that’s a no go!….it’s kids especially black kids with dreams living in poverty who love basketball trying to make it out,” Bryant tweeted. “You are special boss.. f— that dumb s–t… you are a role model regardless if you see it or not…your name hold weight.. make peace with whatever problems you are dealing with and elevate.. all love on this end.”
Most of Bryant’s followers are praising him for this message.
“That’s all we need to see Ja Morant needs to change and be better and learn from his mistakes or whatever problems has been dealing then we will show him a lot of respect,” one fan said.
“I couldn’t say this any better,” a second fan tweeted. “Sometimes we need to see it plain as day. Don’t blow it being an idiot!”
Earlier this Saturday, Morant apologized for his recent actions.
“I take full responsibility for my actions last night,” Morant said in a statement. “I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”
Morant will miss at least the next two games for the Grizzlies.
