Many basketball fans dream about what would happen if Michael Jordan and LeBron James ever faced off on the court.
James apparently does, too.
On Sunday morning, the sidelined Los Angeles Lakers superstar described a vivid dream involving the fellow hoops icon. James said the dream entailed him playing for Duke against Jordan’s North Carolina Tar Heels for the NCAA national championship.
James described the matchup as an “epic classic game,” but he woke up to use the bathroom before determining who won. It was tied with five seconds remaining.
It’s a great story, so much so that many Twitter users don’t believe him.
Meanwhile, others joked about Skip Bayless and other debate shows using LeBron’s dream as fodder to continue the never-ending Jordan vs. James debate.
James said the dream “felt real as hell.” We’ve all gotten up with a similar sensation, and plenty of people get bothered by their bladders overnight, so perhaps the 38-year-old is telling the truth.
He does leave out some details. Were both basketball icons transported back to their younger selves for this once-in-a-lifetime matchup? Was Mike Krzyzewski still coaching the Blue Devils?
Dreams play by no rules, so perhaps Duke alum Kyrie Irving and Shane Battier joined their former teammate.
Lakers fans need a fun diversion as James recovers from a foot injury. The team will fight for a playoff spot without the superstar, who will get re-evaluated in three weeks.
