After the Philadelphia 76ers’ most recent playoff failure, there’s a growing sense that MVP Joel Embiid could be eyeing a move this offseason. If so, the New York Knicks could be a team to keep an eye on.
Knicks insider Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News suggested on Friday that Embiid could be “a name to watch” for the Knicks as they retool for the 2023-24 season. They’re coming off a season that was by all measures a success, but ended in a postseason knockout at the hands of the Miami Heat.
In the fallout of the Knicks’ playoff loss, fans blamed R.J. Barrett and Julius Randle for their inability to get past the Heat.
76ers fans loathe the idea of seeing their greatest player in a generation go to the rival Knicks. Meanwhile, while some Knicks fans like the idea, others aren’t loving the idea of adding Embiid due to his recent string of playoff disappointments.

Joel Embiid has averaged nearly 32 points per game in the regular season over the past two years, winning back-to-back scoring titles and is coming off an MVP win in the 2022-23 season.
While the Knicks may love to add someone like him into the fold, they would have to give a king’s ransom to the 76ers to get him. And that’s all assuming that the 76ers would even part with him under any circumstances.
