Kelvin Sampson has rebuilt Houston’s basketball program a national power. The Cougars have been among college basketball’s elite since Sampson’s third season at the helm, when they won a school-record 33 games and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.
The Cougars spent much of the 2022-23 season ranked at or near the top of the AP poll, Sampson won AAC Coach of the Year for the third time and Houston advanced to the Elite Eight.
Sampson has done a great job with Houston’s program, and his coaching ability has one NBA team interested in seeing what he can do at the next level.
