Few women’s basketball players had the hype going into the WNBA that Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu did.
She hasn’t disappointed since arriving in The W either, and now she’s set to be one of the lead guards on the New York Liberty’s superteam.
Even more, Ionescu’s rookie card is now the most expensive in league history, with Bleacher Report and PWCC sharing that it went for $10,800 at a recent auction.
The sports world reacted to the latest news on Monday.
“Understandable,” a user said. “She be getting buckets.”
“GREATNESS,” another replied in all-caps.
“Her numbers at Oregon… DIFFERENT.”
“HUGE sale for WNBA collectors!” applauded PWCC.
“Nothing makes the sexist losers congregate quite like a woman being successful,” another said. “Happy for Ionescu, she’s a real one.”
The WNBA’s popularity continues to grow with each passing year. If Sabrina continues on the path she’s been on its hard to imagine that price not going up.
