Tottenham Hotspur could have an alternative target in their sights following reports the club have cooled their interest in bringing Christian Eriksen back to north London this summer.
Eriksen signed for fellow Premier League outfit Brentford in January as he made his return to professional football following his release by Inter Milan after his horror heart attack while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020. Previous reports had suggested Antonio Conte had been keen to reunite with the midfielder he managed at Inter and bring him back to Tottenham.
But reports coming out of Spain suggest Spurs could swoop for Atletico Madrid ace Joao Felix in an audacious swap deal involving Giovani Lo Celso. Meanwhile Arsenal have reportedly submitted a contract offer for Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus amid competition for his signature from Antonio Conte’s side.

Joao Felix eyed
Tottenham Hotspur could offer Giovani Lo Celso as part of a move to sign Atletico Madrid ace Joao Felix.
The Portuguese international has had a mixed spell in Spain after signing for the club in a huge £113 million deal in 2019. But despite being named Atletico Madrid’s Player of the Season in May, Felix’s place in Diego Simeone’s side is far from certain.
The Argentinian is said to be open to the idea of parting ways with the forward – es[especially if it means he can bring in Lo Celso. Simeone is said to be a huge fan of the Argentine playmaker, who he has reportedly been following since his time with Real Betis in 2019.

Conte cools Eriksen interest
Antonio Conte has reportedly given up trying to sign Christian Eriksen.
The Danish international suffered a heart attack during Denmark’s Euro 2020 game with Finland, leading to his eventual release by Inter Milan over Serie A rules around players who require heart devices. Conte had coached Eriksen at Inter Milan and was reportedly keen to reunite with the player and bring him back for a second spell at Tottenham.
But reports now suggest Manchester United have moved to the front of the queue for his signature after Conte cooled his interest in the midfielder.

Arsenal offer Jesus contract
Spurs could also miss out on the signing of Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus after Arsenal reportedly submitted a contract offer to the forward.
The Brazilian, who only has one year left on his contract at the Etihad, is widely expected to leave City this summer following the arrivals of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and River Plate striker Julian Alvarez. Spurs are thought to be keen on acquiring his services, but Arsenal have now submitted their offer to the player.
Spurs could still have a chance to secure the signing of Jesus, however, with Arsenal yet to agree a transfer fee with Manchester City.
