Conte calls on Tottenham to ‘learn lesson’ after Brighton defeat

Tottenham Hotspur have got a £10million transfer battle on their hands against Premier League rivals Leeds United with both clubs said to be keen to sign Bristol City youngster Alex Scott.

The 18-year-old has been in impressive form in the Championship this season, making 36 appearances for the Ashton Gate outfit. And he could be available for £10million in the upcoming summer transfer window, with Leeds and Spurs both said to be monitoring his progress.

It comes as reports have suggested Spurs boss Antonio Conte is “dreaming” of taking over at Paris Saint-Germain this summer despite only moving to north London a matter of months ago. And Tottenham ’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League suffered another blow as they limped to a disappointing 0-0 draw at Brentford.

Brentford talking points

Spurs suffered a blip as they could only manage a 0-0 draw at Brentford to put a dent in their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Ivan Toney was denied by the woodwork twice as Brentford almost made it four wins in a row as Tottenham’s front three of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski were again blunted. Spurs still hold an advantage over Arsenal with a game in hand on their Premier League rivals as both clubs vie for the final place in the Premier League’s top four.

It was a match full of talking points, covered by football.london, including Ryan Sessegnon’s comeback, Christian Eriksen’s return and a lingering concern about Harry Kane.

Conte ‘dreaming’ of move

Spurs boss Antonio Conte is reportedly “dreaming” of taking over at French champions Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

PSG wrapped up the Ligue 1 title on Saturday as they were held 1-1 by Lens at the Parc des Princes but moved 16 points clear of closest challengers Marseille, who have five games left to play. But it has not been an easy season for Mauricio Pochettino in the French capital after watching his side crash out of the French Cup on penalties to Nice and falling out of the Champions League to Real Madrid after a whirlwind 17-minute spell in which Karim Benzema bagged himself a hat-trick.

That has led to speculation the club could replace him this summer, with reports coming out of France suggesting Conte is already “dreaming” of taking over at PSG and “looking for a new challenge”.

And reports have now claimed that Spurs and Leeds both sent their scouts to run the rule over the youngster during Bristol’s 1-0 win over Stoke on Good Friday.

And the Robins could decide to cash in on him in order to help reshape their own squad in the summer transfer window.
