NBA fans must wait for their next chance to watch Victor Wembanyama.
According to Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News, the No. 1 pick is “100% finished” with the NBA Summer League. The Spurs always intended on Wembanyama playing two games in Las Vegas to “get a taste of the NBA.”
“[San Antonio] saw what it wanted to see, now giving him a break after a busy 12 months,” Finger wrote Monday.
Can report Victor Wembanyama is now 100% finished with summer league, per the Spurs.
All along, two games was the plan. Spurs wanted him to get a taste of the NBA, and he got it. Team saw what it wanted to see, now giving him a break after a busy 12 months.

Friday’s highly anticipated debut fell a bit flat, as the 19-year-old phenom went 2-of-13 in his Summer League debut against the Charlotte Hornets. After the game, Wembanyama told reporters he “didn’t really know what I was doing on the court.”
However, Wembanyama showed what all the fuss was about when tallying 27 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks in Sunday’s win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Following a momentary tune-up, the Spurs will sit Wembanyama for the final week in Vegas. Even though they planned this schedule all along, seeing fellow top picks Scoot Henderson and Amen Thompson get hurt may have only fortified their decision.
