Star actor Lawrence Maleka announced as ‘Big Brother Mzansi’ host

One of South Africa’s most-loved reality shows Big Brother Mzansi is set to return with a bang in January 2022. Television host and former The River actor, Lawrence Maleka has been selected to host season three of Big Brother Mzansi

LAWRENCE MALEKA TO HOST ‘BIG BROTHER MZANSI’

Taking to Twitter on Monday 20 December, entertainment commentator Phil Mphela announced that Lawrence Maleka will host the third season of Big Brother Mzansi

Mphela also announced that the competition reality show will kick off on Sunday 23 January 2022

Lawrence Maleka has had plenty of experience in hosting some of South Africa’s biggest shows. Maleka co-hosted the 27th annual South African Music Awards earlier this year alongside choreographer Bontle Moloi. The 31-year-old actor also hosted Clash of the Choirs, Star Gist and All Access Mzansi.

HIGH PRAISE FOR LAWRENCE MALEKA 

Speaking to Channel24, M-Net’s director of local entertainment channels Shirley Adonisi praised Maleka, mentioning that he has proven to be one of the top young talents on our screens. 

“His vibrant and confident screen as well as stage presence is a perfect fit for Big Brother Mzansi.”

“We can’t wait for viewers to tune in to what’s certainly going to be a very exciting season,” said Adonisi.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ‘BIG BROTHER MZANSI’

Auditions for Big Brother Mzansi season three closed on Saturday 6 November. Hopefuls for the reality show had to upload a two-minute video of themselves in order to be considered for the competition. 

According to Phil Mphela, Big Brother Mzansi contestants will be competing for a R2 million cash prize which is the “biggest ever prize on the show”. Social media users were not too blown away about the prize money but some were keen on joining the show after the announcement. 

The reality show will be broadcast across Africa and promises to be the most exciting season yet!
