Star Wars Fans Finally Discover Who Temuera Morrison’s Character Was in Obi-Wan Kenobi

0

Temuera Morrison has integrated himself into the Star Wars franchise over the last two decades since his first appearance as Jango Fett in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Having also played Boba Fett in The Mandalorian and his own spin-off show The Book of Boba Fett, Morrison also made a small but well noted appearance as an unnamed Clone Trooper in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Thanks to a new book, fans have now discovered a little more about his mysterious if dishevelled Obi-Wan Kenobi character.

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s timeline put the series right in the middle of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, meaning it was also set in the middle of Morrison’s two character appearances as Jango and Boba Fett. Morrison’s Jango Fett became the template for many clones, so the inclusion of him in the series could have just been a little nod and an Easter egg for those eagle-eyed enough to notice him. However, as reported by The Direct, despite not naming him at the time the series aired, the Rise of the Stormtrooper section in Star Wars: Dawn of the Republic: Visual Guide has now named the clone as Nax, a downtrodden veteran from the Battle of Teth, Christophsis, and Umbara. The character is fully described as:

“Downtrodden on the streets of Daiyu is the clone trooper Nax. A veteran of many battlefields, including Teth, Christophsis and Umbara, he was removed from the frontlines after extensive injuries. Rapidly declining from age acceleration and neglect, Nax asks passers-by for credits”

Temuera Morrison Is Expected to Return in Ahsoka.

Although he did not make an appearance in the third season of The Mandalorian, Morrison could potentially return in Ahsoka. It was previously reported that the actor could be taking on the role of another clone in the form of Captain Rex, a clone that fought with Ahsoka Tano as well as being part of the 501st who led Nax into the Clone Wars battles. Star Wars has been bringing many of its animated characters into live-action recently, and Captain Rex could be the latest to make his debut.

Morrison has certainly enjoyed his multiple roles in the Star Wars franchise, and despite being disappointed to not be asked back for the newest season of The Mandalorian, his appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi did allow him to catch up with an old friend: Ewan McGregor. Morrison previously said:

“It was a wonderful opportunity to pop in there and see what they’re doing across the room from where we were. That came in handy, it worked out quite good to make a little cameo. I enjoyed working with Ewan again, going back to Attack of the Clones. We did all that [puts on clone character’s voice], ‘Hey, you! You came to see me and this army,’ and all that stuff. It was a wonderful time.”

Whether Morrison will make his expected appearance or not in Ahsoka is something fans will find out soon, as the series is set to premiere later in August. Beyond that, there is every likelihood he will be back playing Boba Fett at least one more time before The Mandalorian era is brought to a close.
