Star Wars leak says Luke Skywalker ‘will get new trilogy’

Star Wars leak says Luke Skywalker ‘will get new trilogy’

Star Wars fans have not had any news on a new set of films for years, at this point. In the past few years, Disney announced Star Wars would be getting a couple of new entries in cinemas, including Rogue Squadron from Patty Jenkins and an untitled film from Thor boss Taika Waititi. Rogue Squadron was recently cancelled by Disney execs, so Waititi’s distance movie is the only adventure planned, for now.

With that said, new information from a noted Star Wars leaker has stated that Luke Skywalker will once again be front and centre of an upcoming trilogy that will take place long before the events of Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

The information comes from YouTuber Mike Zeroh, who supplies his viewers with leaked Star Wars information and rumours. However, it is important to note that he has not always been correct in his predictions, so this news should be taken with a grain of salt.

With that said, Zeroh claimed that there are “several” spin-off shows in the works behind the scenes at Disney Plus. These spin-offs are said to be “expanding the roadmap” of the Star Wars universe going forward.

“Recently,” Zeroh went on. “[Disney] CEO Bob Chapek green-lit a brand new Star Wars trilogy that is set to be announced by the end of next year [2023]. It will be considered a new sequel trilogy that also takes place after Return of the Jedi.”

As fans know, Return of the Jedi marked the end of Darth Vader’s reign over the galaxy and left Luke Skywalker at the forefront of the defence against evil.

Chronologically, the TV shows The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett took place long after Return of the Jedi and incorporated Luke Skywalker into the universe once again.

Well, Zeroh claims Skywalker’s story is just beginning. He said in a recent video: “One of the big plans from [Star Wars writers John] Favreau and [Dave] Filoni is to make three big movies based on the characters from the Mando-verse. Much of it will be a story about Luke Skywalker, and a continuation of the Skywalker saga.”

The leaker said the trilogy will use the events of The Mandalorian as a “template” for the new trilogy. He noted Favreau and Filoni will be the “main writers” for the films while also looking for a third scribe to join them.

However, there is a lot of uncertainty about these new movies.

This is all very exciting news, if true, and will likely continue overlapping with other major upcoming TV shows in the Star Wars universe.

One of the next series to hit the small screen is Ahsoka, which follows the titular hero looking for Ezra Bridger after he disappeared at the end of Star Wars: Rebels.

This show will also introduce Sabine Wren in live action for the first time. With this trinity of heroes now in the running to fight the Dark Side, they may well be about to team up with Skywalker in his next trilogy of movies.

But the real question is: How will Skywalker be portrayed on the big screen?

So far, Skywalker has been resurrected as a young version of actor Mark Hamill using incredible CGI deepfake technology.

But for that face to remain front-and-centre for three entire films could be a little jarring for viewers.

Further rumours have surfaced suggesting that Sebastian Stan – of Captain America and the Winter Soldier fame – could play a younger version of Hamill / Skywalker. Could this be the next evolution of the character?

The Star Wars franchise is available to stream on Disney Plus now.
