One of the defining moments of Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals came late in the fourth quarter when the Lakers trailed by three points.
LeBron James took a pull-up three in an effort to tie the game and missed. That miss allowed the Nuggets to get a long rebound, get fouled on the other end and effectively put the game away on a pair of free throws from Nikola Jokic.
LeBron’s poor shooting from three has been a talking point through the NBA Playoffs, but his lack of proficiency from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter is even more surprising to see.

During the 2023 NBA Playoffs, LeBron is 1-20 on three-pointers in the fourth quarter. Fortunately, he hasn’t had to take too many of them as Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell are usually on the floor late in games.
The Lakers were able to defeat the Grizzlies and Warriors without relying on James’ outside shooting, but with a 2-0 deficit heading into the next 2 games at home, they’ll need every tool in the arsenal to avoid falling down 3-0 or 3-1 in the series.
LeBron will get the chance to bounce back from his poor three-point shooting in Game 3 at home against the Nuggets on Saturday night.
