Stellenbosch FC have again lost another gem but this time to an European club as they aim to rebuild for the new campaign with new players.

After having recently sold Junior Mendieta to Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellies have parted ways with Ibraheem Jabaar to allow him to move to Israel.

Jabaar, 20, is on his way to Israeli club Maccabi Petah Tikva for the upcoming season after having spent two-and-a-half years with Stellies.

Jabaar arrived as a 17-year-old in early 2021, and proved to be nothing but an asset to the Stellenbosch-based outfit under Steve Barker.

The central midfielder leaves having featured in 70 competitive matches for Stellenbosch FC and scoring three times and assisting in a further three.

STELLENBOSCH FC STAR JABAAR LEAVES FOR EUROPE

“Stellenbosch Football Club has parted ways with Ibraheem Jabaar to pave the way for him to join Maccabi Petah Tikva ahead of the 2023/24 Israeli Premier League season.

“The 20-year-old joined Stellenbosch in 2021 and spent the last two-and-a-half seasons in the Winelands, making a total of 70 appearances for the club across all competitions.

“Last year, he became the youngest player in the club’s history to reach the 50-match milestone and was also named the SFC Young Player of the Year in 2022 in recognition of his stellar performances.

“The Nigeria youth international departs with the blessing of all at the club who wish him well as he embarks on the next chapter of his career abroad.”
