Stephen A. Smith gives his opinion on a matter of topics every day. Despite the years of experience he’s gathered in the sports industry, sometimes those opinions are off the mark.

On Thursday’s edition of ESPN’s First Take, Smith asserted that Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic was not known for being dominant in the post. Smith’s fellow panelists, including J.J. Redick and Jay Williams, reacted in disbelief.

One NBA writer, Matt Moore of the Action Network, called it the “dumbest” NBA take he’s seen on the network in recent memory.

Nikola Jokic is, of course, one of the most dominant post players in the NBA today – if not of all time. The Nuggets run most of their offense through Jokic’s post play, whether as a scorer or as a facilitator.

“I know pointing out that Stephen A doesn’t know ball isn’t a revolutionary thing, but this is downright ridiculous,” one fan said.

“If you don’t recognize Jokic is an absurdly good post up player you just aren’t watching. There’s no other way to come to that conclusion.”

Smith attempted to double down on his take on Jokic by comparing him to Shaquille O’Neal, but the comparison falls flat. Both Jokic and O’Neal may play the same position, but each player approaches it differently.

After another triple-double to lead the Nuggets to a win in the NBA Finals, Jokic seems to be doing fine for himself, even without a post game according to Smith.
